Elite Motorsport heads to the final GB3 Championship event of the season at Donington Park next month (16-17 Oct) pushing to finish its maiden single-seater season off in style.

The Norfolk team will travel to Leicestershire buoyed after achieving confidence-boosting results at Oulton Park recently (11-12 Sep).

Elite’s duo of Tom Lebbon and Javier Sagrera Pont recorded five top-10 placings in the three Oulton races – results that consolidated reigning Ginetta Junior champion Lebbon and Sagrera Pont their ninth and 10th respective positions in the Driver’s standings while Elite continues to lie fifth in the Teams’ division.

Lebbon topped the times in a damp opening pre-event test session and qualified 10th and seventh for Races 1 and 2. Tom went on to claim 10th, seventh and eighth in the three races staged around the 2.69-mile Oulton Park International course.

Sagrera Pont, his car now sporting Elite’s traditional yellow and black colour scheme at Oulton, qualified seventh and sixth and achieved seventh in the opener. He spun out of sixth on the penultimate lap in Race 2 before finishing just 0.438secs away from a podium in fourth in the weekend’s final race held in wet conditions – Javier having set the race’s third fastest race lap.

Eddie Ives, Team Owner & Manager

“Our aim has to be to finish off the season at Donington with more podiums. We’ve already achieved a few with Javier and Tom, the latter coincidentally getting a third at Donington in July.

“The GB3 series is incredibly close, all of the teams using the same chassis and engine. Less than one second covered the top-10 drivers in qualifying around a 2.7 mile track.

“We’re up against teams that have lots of single-seater experience. Tom and Javier are both new to GB3 while Javier is racing on UK tracks for the very first time so both are doing incredibly well while we as a team are learning with every lap ourselves.

“The performances of Tom and Javier were excellent at Oulton and as a team it was one of our best race weekends of the season. The pair achieved five top-10 placings between them and so I’m really looking forward as to what we can get at Donington.”
