The fourteen year old from Yorkshire made his championship debut in the final three meetings of the 2018 season at Rockingham, Silverstone and Brands Hatch and immediately battled on the fringes of the top ten, securing a best finish of twelfth on three occasions.

Pearson followed that up with an outing in the Winter Series and showed a big sign of his potential as he qualified fifth on the grid for both of Sunday’s races and produced competitive performances in all the races across the weekend.

With that experience under his belt, the Leeds based racer will now tackle a first full campaign this year as a Rookie Class contender. He joins Tom Emson and James Hedley in Elite Motorsport’s 2019 driver line-up.

Joel Pearson: “I am looking forward to the 2019 Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship and building on the pace I had in the Winter Series, qualifying as the fastest rookie. Elite Motorsport have history of developing winning drivers and I know that we are going to be a competitive package this year.”

Eddie Ives, team principal: “I am pleased to announce Joel as one of our rookie contenders for 2019. We have had a fantastic winter testing programme and it’s great to see Joel’s progress. His aim is to win the Rookie title for 2019 and we will be working hard to make this a reality.”

The Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship is the UK’s longest running and most prestigious Junior series, offering the first step on the motorsport ladder for 14-17 year old racing drivers as they compete on the support bill for the British Touring Car Championship.
