Already “crowned” 2021 Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup Teams’ Champions Elite Motorsport can now also celebrate Adam Smalley winning the Driver’s title.

Smalley claimed the title by 51-points while Josh Rattican and Tom Emson finished second and sixth respectively.

Elite’s high-flying trio scored a staggering 38 podium finishes in the 23-race campaign – including 11 victories – helping the Norfolk squad finish the year 418pts ahead of the second best placed team after leading the series from the opening event in June.

Smalley, who won the 2017 Ginetta Junior Winter and 2018 Junior titles with Elite, enjoyed a phenomenally successful season. Adam, who finished fourth in last year’s series, scored 15 podiums that included seven race wins. Unsurprisingly, he was named the “Millers Oils Star of the Season”.

He arrived at the recent Brands Hatch finale with a 44pts lead and despite Adam having his worst quali session of the season with only fifth place, went on to record a fifth, fourth (a result that sealed the title) and third – Adam letting Rattican overtake him on the last lap allowing Josh to claim second in the Driver’s championship.

SuperCup newcomer Rattican, who finished runner-up to Elite’s Tom Lebbon in Ginetta Juniors last year, also enjoyed a great year and excelled at Brands. Having achieved a front row start for Race 1, Josh recorded two seconds and a third, finishing the season off with a very impressive 17 podiums that included three wins.

Having scored five podiums that included two second places in the previous 22 races, Emson, third in the 2020 SuperCup Pro-Am division, saved the best until the very last race by scoring his maiden outright SuperCup race victory in the season’s finale.

Eddie Ives, Team Owner & Manager

“What an amazing year! Harry King won the Driver’s title with us in 2019 but we missed out on winning the Teams’ title and so to win both this year is absolutely fantastic.

“Adam worked incredibly hard in the couple of weeks before the season began to obtain sufficient funding from sponsors to allow him to race this year. He’s worked ultra-hard both on and off the track for the past four seasons he has raced under Elite colours and we are pleased to have produced another champ!

“Josh scored our most podiums and has raced consistently at the front of the field and massively deserves the runners-up spot in the Driver’s division. I was extremely happy for Tom to end the season with his maiden victory and first fastest race lap. Again, Tom has raced with us since 2018 so it’s awesome to see it come to fruition.”
